Brown Butter Cod with Capers

Prep Time: 5

Cook Time: 12-15 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Serves: 2

Ingredients

  • 2 (6 oz) Cod Fillets, Thawed and Patted Dry
  • 2 tbsp. Flour
  • 1 tbsp. Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tbsp. Unsalted Butter
  • ½ tsp. Garlic, Minced
  • 1 tbsp. Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp. Lemon Zest
  • 1 tsp. Capers

How to Make:

    Step 1

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet on medium high heat.
  2. Step 2

  3. Dredge fish in flour, salt, and pepper. Once hot, cook cod fillets for 3–4 minutes, until they are golden brown in color. Flip them over and cook for 3–4 minutes on the other side. Set the cooked cod aside on a plate.
  4. Step 3

  5. Melt butter in the skillet over medium-low heat. Stir continuously with rubber spatula for 2–3 minutes. Once the butter starts to brown, stir in the minced garlic for 30 seconds or until fragrant. Remove the skillet from the burner and turn off the heat.
  6. Step 4

  7. Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and capers. Spoon the sauce onto the fish. Transfer the fillets to a plate using a fish spatula. Pour brown butter sauce evenly over each cod filet. Serve with a side of sauteed zucchini and a lemon wedge garnish.
